Having looked on the internet, the price range is wide, probably £200k to £350k (3 or 4 bedroom), or we could reluctantly spend more if there was a special feature such as moorings, acreage or additional property/annex suitable for renting. Our must haves / have nots are: Must have: Set back from road Local public transport to town (daughter needs retail work, no car) Detached Some neighbours Quiet neighbourhood without poor reputation Good looks and great value Double garage (or garage + possible carport) Gas CH Nearby open spaces/parks or woodland (walking + bikes) Must not: On Busy Road Noise from nearby main road or railway (needs to be ½ mile plus for busy roads, 1 mile for motorways& railways?) Dogs barking (eg kennels etc nearby) Smells eg sewage or pigs Next to school or industrial Aircraft path High density development Being too overlooked Isolated Area with chance of significant development Row of identical properties Other preferences are: Backing onto river / canal could also be of interest, if available Veranda / elevated seating area with views Detached annex / second property/ income potential – NOT CONVERTED GARAGE – I want the garage!
